Claude Code mod
Muse Pet
A pixel Muse that lives above your Claude Code prompt and earns its place: it waves and chimes when Claude is waiting for you, hops when a long turn is done, and carries the context meter and the session's cost. It can be your Muse.

Install
You need Claude Code v2.1.287 or later (claude --version). Then, in your shell:
claude plugin marketplace add Soyn/mububu-pet claude plugin install muse-pet@mububu
Or do both from inside a session: /plugin install muse-pet --marketplace Soyn/mububu-pet. Start a new session, or run /reload-plugins, and the Muse appears above the prompt. /plugin lists it under Installed, where you can turn it off.
Updates: claude plugin update muse-pet@mububu. To try it without installing: clone the repository and run claude --plugin-dir ./mububu-pet.
What it does
| When | The Muse |
|---|---|
| idle | Breathes and blinks. After a quiet while it sits down for a nap. |
| Claude thinks | Looks up and combs its fur, saying what it's up to (pondering, herding pixels, almost done…). |
| a tool runs | Peeks sideways and names the tool. |
| Claude waits for you | A permission prompt or a question: it waves, says what it's waiting on, and plays a soft two-note chime. The one you'll hear from another window. |
| a turn ends | Hops and reports the time and tool count. Turns over fifteen seconds, or ones it had to wait in, get a short ta-da. |
| context fills | Under its words: a five-block meter with the percent and the session's cost. Past 80% it gets sleepy and asks for /compact. |
Commands
| Command | Does |
|---|---|
| /pet | Pet it. A purr and two hearts. |
| /pet small · /pet big | Its size: 24 or 32 pixels tall (12 or 16 rows). Remembered. |
| /pet mute · /pet sound | Silence every chime for heads-down coding, or bring them back. The pet still waves. Remembered, and the band shows "muted". |
| /pet hide · /pet show | Fold the picture to one dim line, or bring it back. The line still says what Claude is waiting on. The hide and mute controls under the Muse do the same with a click, so there is no need to reach for the [-] mark at the far right or the ctrl+x ctrl+a chord. |
| /muse <id> | Make it your own Muse (below). |
| /muse default | Back to the Mububu Muse. |
Make it your Muse
- Make a Muse at mububu.app if you haven't: fur, face, outfit, pose.
- Open the Gadget at gadget.mububu.app. It picks up your Muse. Pick any device.
- Share → Terminal Pet. The page renders your Muse's pose clips (about ten seconds) and shows a command like
/muse k7x2m9pq. Copy it. - Paste it at your Claude Code prompt. The pet says "that is me!" and keeps your Muse from then on, across sessions.
Good to know
- The pixel drawing needs the terminal. In the Claude Desktop app the pet is a small text face with the same words and sounds.
- It draws with half-block characters (
▀ ▄) in 24-bit colour; every modern terminal does this. If the colours look flat, check that your terminal has true colour on. - Sounds play through the system player (macOS
afplay). Nothing plays inclaude -pruns. - It never reads your code or your conversation. It listens to Claude Code's own events (turn started, tool ran, waiting, done) and the usage figures the status line already has.
- Open source, MIT: github.com/Soyn/mububu-pet. Issues and ideas welcome there.
